I'm missing my dad today.
Walked out of Target, hectic experience including, but not limited to:
crying, throwing Tinkerbell birthday plates en masse into the cart, being told by a "target team member" to seat my children in the cart properly, ordering food at the food court--sitting down to eat--then, "I have to go to the bathroom," a headache, a ring-pop fiasco, and a dumped pop.
Walked out having forgotten to purchase 3 important items and the tears began to eek out.
Had an intense need to call my dad. I have no idea why it hit me so hard---sometimes the news of his death hits me like I've never heard it before.
Punch in the gut.
So--I still miss him....
at the big things like Christmas and my birthday and
in small moments like walking out of Target.
He's been gone 4 years, 5 months, 2 days, 2 hours, and 32 minutes.....33 minutes....34 minutes.

I'm feeling it too Annie! How blessed we are to have such incredible dad's in our life! But dang it that we can't just pick up the phone and call them or drive to their house and get a hug. But I think they are looking down and telling us to just hang on everything is okay! Keep smiling my friend!
ReplyDeleteoh how this breaks my heart for you. Takes me back to that day standing in your living room when you got the call. Carson made one of those "phones" out of 2 cups and a string in Primary on Sunday. One cup said "pray" the other said "listen". Wouldn't it be amazing to be able to make real phone calls to Heaven and talk to those we have lost and miss?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet post Annie. I wish I could have met your dad...he raised a magnificent daughter.
