That being said, I found the experience a little disconcerting. This could be because Blake has a few areas that need improvement OR because I'm a neurotic, overly sensitive, overly mothery, stress case of a human. Hmmmm....the latter might be the best answer.
Teacher: Blake doesn't like to paint because he doesn't like to get his hands or himself dirty.
Me: Hmmm....I've seen that at home.....it's funny because I'm not weird about things like that.
(Blake and Maren playing with paint, I'm not aware)
Teacher: We're just working with him to enjoy "dirty" things more. It's another way to express himself.Me: (Nodding) That's good....I will work with this at home.
Teacher: Thanks for your time.
(Together we walk to the children.)
Me: Gasp! (I see Maren's face, shirt, and pants)Me: Please tell me this is washable paint!!??
Teacher: Nods.....it's washable.....a bit of a critical gleam in her eye.
Oh the agony of judgement! And we're only in preschool.................

Wait until you get to start decoding conferences: Your child is right where he should be... ie he is an average student so don't have high expectations.
ReplyDeleteYour child seems to like everyone and is fine playing alone... ie he doesn't have any really close friends and may never.
Your child lets everyone play during gym... ie he can't dribble a ball to save his life so people keep taking it from him.
Marianne, that is hilarious. I know, I know...my mom says there's a teacher code to help parents cope with what they got (for children).
ReplyDeleteHa Ha! Hilarious! Way to go Maren...show him how it's done!
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT.
