Thou Shalt Not Steal.

So........we're in the mall playground. My children are playing and enjoying the post-holiday break. Then---right in front of us, a crime was committed.

We ran into the play area and Blake innocently put his shoes----his nice Gymboree, Merrell type shoes---into the provided shoe "cubby."

We sat. We played. We visited with other shoppers. Blake decided he was hungry, so we prepared to leave.

When we went to get his shoes....they were gone! They had "pisdappeared." We looked everywhere. Asked everyone present. No one saw or heard anything.

THEY HAD BEEN STOLEN!!!! Yes, stolen!

Blake was devastated and didn't understand what happened. He said, "Maybe someone was playing with them," and "Let's just go to their house to ask for them back."

As I walked him with stocking feet to Payless Shoes, I talked about how someone maybe didn't have shoes and how they probably needed them more than we did. But...in my head, I was thinking expletives and how crummy this was to do to a 3 year old.

'Tis the season.

  1. How horrible! I can't believe someone would go up and steal shoes out of that thing. I will not be putting the girls shoes there anymore.
